The work is based on experience of 60 years of surgical treatment of contractures and deformities of the upper and lower extremities in 3,188 children with spastic cerebral palsies. From this group of patients, 348 (10.9 %) cases developed recurrent contractures and “reverse” deformities within the immediate and remote postoperative periods (from 6 months to 2-3 years). Phase-tonic muscle activity of the upper and lower extremities was studied in 560 children operated. Causes for the formation of recurrent spastic contractures and “reverse” deformities depending on the type of surgery and electromyographic parameters were analysed.References
