The treatment of 115 patients (55 males, 60 females), who were ill with osteoarthrosis of the knee joint with varus deformity and underwent corrective osteotomies of the proximal tibia, was analysed. The patients’ age averaged 51.6 years. “Closing wedge” osteotomies were performed on 52 patients, “opening wedge” ones on 63. Indications and contraindications for this technique were established. The use of high corrective osteotomy of the tibia with strict adherence to the indications made it possible to obtain positive results in the treatment of patients with gonarthrosis against a background of varus deformity and preserve the structural-functional integrity of the knee joint.References
