The article deals with the problem of treating fractures in the proximal femur against a background of degenerative-dystrophic diseases of the hip joint. The technique of single-stage total hip joint arthroplasty with elements of osteosynthesis on the endoprosthesis stem is suggested as a method of choice. In this case, the femoral component of the endoprosthesis serves as an intramedullary construction for stable-functional osteosynthesis. Eight patients were operated in compliance with the above technique. Good functional results with follow-ups during 5 and more years were achieved in all the cases.
