Abstract

In January 2011, 75 years passed since the day of foundation of the Ukrainian Association of Orthopaedists-Traumatologists. The history of this scientific-practical society is closely connected with the formation and development of orthopaedics and traumatology as a Ukrainian science and a separate speciality in the system of health protection, Kharkiv Institute of Orthopaedics and Traumatology and the name of Professor M.I. Sytenko. The activity of the society is directed towards an increase in the qualification of medical and scientific personnel, a higher efficacy in rendering specialized aid to the population, and an improvement of the nation’s health.
