Abstract

An analysis of the development of the proximal femur end in 120 patients after avascular necrosis of the femoral head as a complication of treatment of hip joint dysplasia revealed deformity of type II by Kalamchi in 46 cases (49 joints). The follow-up period lasted 12–15 years. The use of MRI and CT techniques makes it possible to specify the changes, which occur in the neck, greater trochanter of the femur and acetabulum, rather than in the head only. The knowledge of these deformity peculiarities enables paediatric surgeons to approach its treatment differentially.
