Abstract

Remote results of treatment of 143 children, aged 3-14 years, with diaphyseal fractures of the forearm bones were analysed in order to reveal the causes of their complications. Mistakes in conservative treatment were made in 18 patients (12.6 %) owing to unqualified assessment of radiograms and underestimation of clinical signs and symptoms. Imperfect immobilization of the fractures resulted in complications in 86 cases (60.1 %), nonobservance of fixation terms in 27 (18.9 %), frequent changes of plaster bandages in 12 (18.9 %), and absence of rehabilitation in 47 (32.6 %).
