Abstract


Історія інституту імені професора М. І. Си-
тенка почалася у 1907 р., коли за рішенням
ХХХІ з’їзду гірничопромисловців Півдня Росії
був створений Медико-механічний інститут, ди-
ректором якого призначили Карла Федоровича
Вегнера (рис. 1). Основним завданням закладу на
той час було надання кваліфікованої експертної
та медичної допомоги робітникам гірничорудної
промисловості з наслідками виробничих травм.
Активна організаційно-методична діяльність
інституту розпочалася у 1925 р. після його ре-
організації в Український державний клінічний
інститут ортопедії і травматології. Зважаючи на
те, що Харків на той час був столицею України,
на інститут були покладені функції центральної
ортопедо-травматологічної установи, відпові-
дальної за організацію якісної й ефективної спе-
ціалізованої ортопедо-травматологічної допомоги
населенню України, надання висококваліфікова-
ної консультативної, практичної лікувальної та
методичної допомоги органам охорони здоров’я.
