Many orthopaedic schools today use the name of a French orthopaedist Jaques Cheneau in names of their braces. Cheneau technology is continuously developed and improved depending upon an increasing level of knowledge about scoliosis and biomechanical understanding of mechanisms in the development of scoliotic deformities of the vertebral column. However some orthopaedic schools discontinued their development at the level of 1980s. The Spanish and Ukrainian schools of Cheneau technology can be regarded as the most progressive ones. Unfortunately, Cheneau’s name is very often used with selfish ends.
