Surgical treatment of persistent extension fractures in the knee joint

Abstract

A new surgical access and a new technique for treating severe extension contractures of the knee joint were developed at the Department of Sports Injuries of our Institute. Within 1998-2007, our technique was used for operating on 52 patients at the age from 17 to 60. Of them, there were 13 women and 39 men. Remote results of the surgical treatment within the terms from 6 months to 1.5 years were studied in 43 patients. Good results of the treatment were observed in 41 cases.
