The article contains results of an open study aimed to assess the efficacy and tolerance of Artiflex Chondro drug versus Mucosat Neo, both based on chondroitin sulfate as their active substance. The study involved 112 patients, aged from 33 to 69, with deforming osteoarthrosis of the knee or hip joints at stages II-III by the Kellegren-Lawrence classification. The drugs were injected intramuscularly by 1.0 ml on alternate days thrice. Then the dose was enlarged up to 2.0 ml. The course of treatment consisted of 25 injections on alternate days. The therapeutic equivalence of the studied drugs was established. It was proved that Artiflex Chondro drug did not produce any negative effects on blood pressure, heart rate and body temperature. The indices of laboratory clinical and biochemical analyses of blood and urine in the end of the study did not change significantly versus their initial values. By its efficacy indices (pain syndrome intensity by the visual analogue scale, Lequesne index, time for walking 30 metres, demand for nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, Artiflex Chondro is an appropriate drug for treating patients with deforming osteoarthrosis. The drug does not produce any adverse reactions and can be recommended as a chondroprotective remedy.
