The authors share their significant experience in using spinal anaesthesia, including repeated (more than 5 times) in one patient during a relatively short period of time (less than 2 years), prolonged and superprolonged anaesthesia (respectively, more than 4 and 6 houirs) after a single injection of an anaesthetic in patients below 1 year. Most frequently used in interventions on the upper extremities is nerve block anaesthesia with electrostimulation following preliminary sedation. Particularly difficult is surgical correction of severe deformities in the vertebral column with use of polysegmental structures in conditions of combined anteroposterior approaches. The large size of an operative wound, a high traumatism and duration of the intervention necessitate thorough individualization of anaesthesia for each particular patient. For the first time in Ukraine, the technique of prolonged epidural pain relief was used in patients of the above category for postoperative analgesia.
